Yes, much simpler... I'd just hate for people to start saying "I'm going to head in direction 287"... Its like saying exactly how much you're holding.

Problem is I don't think you can stack images like that in a browser.. Such a solution would require a change to the generation of the map graphic. My suggestion sidestepped that problem entirely...

Gee, look at the first post, the image is split in parts according to the lines. You have the upper part on one line, then <br> then the left side, the map graphic, the right graphic, <br> bottom graphic. It's a bit harder with the circular map but the circular map itself must be cut/masked from the main map somehow so it's already using some code. Also CSS allows stacking of images. At least with text, it's possible to have text on top of an image, or image on top of a block of text. I don't know if it would be possible to have an image on top of another image, but it might work.

Also remember round map size varies.

It's a sqaure image, bordered with the same green as the background. I guess you could have that transparant instead, but I still don't think you can easily stack images even then.. (I'm no css expert, but I have never noticed stacked images on any webpage, and I would have noticed that I think).

Why not just turn the location map back to normal, makes life easier. Is there a reason for them to be the way the are?
But anyways glad this idea came up. Wondered whether anyone actually used it after I made it.

It would be much more confusing to turn it around now.

I've grown to hate maps that are set with north up in Cantr. So confusing. Too used to the way it's been since forever. I don't understand why anyone would turn it around in the game for that reason.

true but it wouldn't take that long to get used to changed back, Pluss it would help new characters who have to get used to it as it is.

But maybe Cantr has east and west poles rather than north and south. Don't let these OOC and RL prejudices affect your judgment.
Seriously, though, is this one of the reasons the road directions in the Quillanoi continent are all over the place?

All with you... Kinda confusing to read a map that's turned in the wrong way. And isen't it a OOC knowledge to turn the maps so north is up? As it is a OOC knowledge it is also a CRB as i see it.

Moved to Implemented Suggestion.

simple yet very effective and useful. I like this, I wouldn't have minded either way before it was implemented, but being able to see directions helps me visualise where roads lead to now

Request for a small correction: On the lower arc, the numbers should be linked to the circle by their upper edge instead of lower edge, since 90* now looks like 06.

What you mean you don't have to build a compass first?

its useless. and it's harder to make maps with that. why this can't be turned of?
