I said no. Unfortunately I don't know where I was when this poll was started.
Oh oh- encourage trade, it's said.
Well, there was a price for healing. That was: 1.) Time and effort it would take someone to go get the healing foods in order to heal. 2.) Cost in whatever rate you were given to trade for healing foods. in order to heal.3.) Cost in social aspects, if you could find someone to befriend you enough to give them to you for free in order to heal.
Now, people of small wounds aren't going to be willing to pay that price and they should be. Rich or poor town. bunch of animals or few. JMO

I hate people.

I voted yes! Even 1% a day would be great, though technically that's better than some of the healing food out there.
People with major injuries will still need to trade (assuming the can, in lots of towns no one has any healing food at all) or if they're going to be fighting.
1% a day wouldn't unbalance anything, it won't be enough to save anyone who's being attacked, it'll just make sure that your chars don't have to live with a hit from a suicidal newspawn for the next six years.

How about natural healing in beds and such? That would give rise a hospital-like atmosphere. As you rest, your body has enough energy to devote to significantly healing itself.
Or maybe the bed rest could augment the effect of the healing food?

RD has discussed this and it was approved. Useing resting objects and even standing around not working would recover your energy, and then heal you, over time. It is currently waiting on ProgD resources to be available to code it.
Please don't bump accepted threads. Thank you.
Reality was never my strong point.

As proposed, gathering resources to heal was still a better options, especially onions and some of the other high effiecency healing foods, and while it was exceedingly slow, it would be possible to heal over time by just standing around and not working.
If and when this is programmed, we can tweek it then if it needs be to make this another option, not a replacement for in game healing.

1% free healing a day? This is getting to easy, unless we add like 50% to all damage a char suffers. About 1 in 4 of chars i see has minor damage and they simply choose not to deal with it. Apparently they think it means next to nothing but still they are annoyed by it. So why don't they look for a trade if they can't get any healing foods?
I vote for the idea but damage points related to healing needs readjusting.

Come on, why is it 'too easy'? A hit with even an average weapon from a person with average skills would still take a year to heal, and anyone who had an actual chance of killing you would have done it already. So it's not like it unbalances anything.
As for minor injuries, I hardly ever 'choose to deal with them' either, but it's not like my arm is still bleeding from that day when my cat stratched me five years ago. I didn't even have to sit around and lose an entire day of work over it either, though that at least I would be okay with in Cantr.

A scratch? Yes, no, but in reality someone could also suffer chronic damage from a silly accident like falling while trying to reach for something. Maybe i'm arguing the wrong subject here, i see many damaged chars, they're playing happily, not worried in the least and i think they have no idea what damage does, all they know is it shouldn't get to zero.
(my IG problem is that my chars have collected some extra healing foods to trade and nobody is interested! Stupid people! Hey, i'm trying to escape from reality here, help!)

How about something along the lines off chars heal naturally but slowly as long as the number of damagepoints is smaller than 40%. No more natural healing beyond that number and damagepoints start increasing slowly if the char has 60 or more. Increase/decrease at 0.05 point per hour or 0.4 point per day (equals 8 points per year).
A message can be generated everytime the char gains or loses one full point, a grey message like when eating a meal.

This seems like a good compromise

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
