Bikinis

Well, the idea was to give men more of a choice. At the moment there are basically only loin cloths. I think it would be a pity if men would be scared off wearing a garment that's (apart from minor differences in cut) principally suitable for both genders, just because of the name.

Anyway, I'm going to change the names of the proposed items to "bikini top" and "bikini bottom" now. LD can easily change the in-game names if there's a change of mind and in the German version I can do as I want anyway.

PS Would "shorts" be okay (for a new type of underwear) or would you have to call them differently?

PPS Damn it, people. It even says "briefs" in the description of the leather bikini. Shall I change that too?

Well, if it already says briefs in the description, then by all means, call them bikini briefs. I, personally, rarely read the clothing descriptions. I just envision them as I want.

There are already shorts, aren't there? We call underwear shorts boxer shorts in the US. Shorts here are outerwear.

As for the boxers, panties, whatever... would it be acceptable to call them just underpants? I could put into the description that they cover the leg joint (although that's hardly necessary, we could keep it very generic to allow freedom of RP).

Why not just call them all bikini briefs then. Men could think of them as Speedos (not very big in the US, but seemingly popular in Europe, though we Americans know what they are, usually because we all have horrid images of fat, sunburnt, Speedo-clad men are burned into our memories like train-wrecks).

If you want to make boxer shorts, make them out of cloth (cotton/silk/hemp). They'd be too stiff to make out of animal parts.

Cotton boxer shorts - A loosely fitting undergarment made of thin cotton cloth, with legs to mid-thigh, held in place by an elastic band. (make rubber a requirement so it's higher tech).

Animal boxers are unnecessary anyway. We have the loin cloths already. What I wanted to know is if just "underpants" would be too generic. Since silk knickers and cotton briefs (those already existed ) are underpants too, probably yes.

I think you can just say hip. And I agree with your other conclusion, yes, underpants isn't quite enough.

If boxer shorts used rubber for an elastic band, that would separate them from the outerwear shorts and be enough of a reason to implement them.

Not exactly. But whatever results this discussion yields can be implemented by LD in 5 minutes. This should not keep us from getting on with the technicalities.

Wow... we have wasted far too much time on such a small issue here. Just implement them and be done with it. No one will make a big deal out of it either way. Most people just RP the actual clothing descriptions anyways.

Lets get this finished and move on to bigger projects!

Players, twenty days from now, bikinis will be converted from a one piece outfit to two piece outfits, to address the problem of pants hiding bikini tops. Bikinis that are worn will be converted to bottoms, and bikinis that are either in inventory or objects page will be converted into bikini tops. The manufacturing requirements for these new items will be half the old items.
