Pie hasn't had much chance to do anything, I'll PM AoM to see if I can extract some activity from him...

This would be going much better if Smirg had been active.

(ooc: apologies to Michabean and Nalaris. Honestly, I didn't think Ira was going to make it, being shot up so bad. Also, things were getting so psychadelic with these aliens not seeing us that it got me way confused. Finally, I've been running the Mafia game and that's what I usually check up on when I log in. I'll keep playing though.)

(ooc: How could Ira have walked into the ship with them? His legs have plasma holes in them. And if he has to stand up to shoot the guns, that's going to be a problem as well...)

"Captain, I'm gonna need someone to prop me up so I can see the targeting system..." Ira winces as he leans up from the floor where he's been lying down all this time.

Pie, you're in the cargo compartment. This cockpit is way too small to hold four people.

The Captain quickly moves from his seat to prop Ira up by the guns. Let me know how else I can help you, Ira. Shoot those idiots down now.

Ira commences firing with extreme prejudice.

Ira begins firing the lancer turret, but the bolts glance harmlessly off of the main hull of the craft, and once the thing begins evasive maneuvers Ira is unable to concentrate any firepower on the vulnerable cockpit, engines or guns. Meanwhile, both pilots open fire, and the left wing in blown off of the ship. The second pilot lands a few glancing blows, but nothing that deals any true damage.

"I'm gonna take us into space, there's no way we can make it back to your ship in this condition!" the pilot says and pulls up hard. He begins heading for space and turns off all engines just as he breaks out of the atmosphere. The two enemy fighters do the same, and soon after all three craft turn on their repulsors, allowing them precision space dogfighting ability.

The pilot turns the fighter in a 180 degree turn, expertly executing the tactic. Then he begins tearing into the suprised fire with his plasma guns, but doesn't penetrate any key areas. Ira, meanwhile, attacks the second enemies vulnerable engines, which explode in a brief blast of fire before being stifled by the oxygenless void of space. The fighter spirals out of control, firing wildly...

And is blown up by a huge capital ships gun. There are two massive battleships locked in combat nearby.

"What have we gotten ourselves into?" Ira mutters as he notices the two battle frigates.

OOC: I'm confused. Do we still have a ship chasing and firing at us or do we just have to worry about the massive battleships now?

Clearing things up...

Ira disabled the engines on one fighter, sending it hurtling into the sights of one of the frigates. The other fighter is fighting us head to head (we're in space, so we can build up enough momentum and equalize with the enemy fighter just by firing retro rockets long enough).

Please begin playing the Asteroid Field theme from Star Wars Episode V in your head (or on Windows Media Player if you have it) as you read this post...

"I'm taking us into the frigate's kill zone, it might shake this guy."

Piloting by using the retro rockets (which are, in fact, repulsor jets which fire plasma, eliminating the annoying need for oxygen), the pilot weaves through the frigates plasma cannon blasts. Soon, however, the pilot loses a wing and spins out of control. The random course of the craft nearly gets captain, crew and ally destroyed twice, but the fighter pulls out with everyone inside relatively unharmed. The enemy fighter, through skill, reflex and luck, pulls through unscathed.

Ira, naturally, begins boring into him the second he gets close. He succesfully blows off both of the enemies main guns, effectively neutralizing the threat.

The pilot attempts to fly towards a moon, the enemy still in pursuit, but can't seem to fly straight with only half of the main repulsor jets (which are contained on the wings). The enemy opens fire with his own lancer turret, and succeeds in blowing up the other engine. However, besides rendering the fighter useless as an atmospheric craft, this does nothing.

Bad news, Captain #3 is gone. Apparently Michabean is having more difficulty posting and has had to stop posting here in order to keep up with her characters.

Let us pause for a moment of silence for Captain Fhmi's third incarnation. Okay, that's enough.

Sorry, guys. And Nalaris, you could have mentioned the broken arm. :P That played a huge part in my decision.

I prefer not to cloud these kind of issues with meaningless details.

And by 'meaningless' I mean 'anything that portrays the person who's bringing my forum game to a grinding halt as a victim/hero (or, in this case, heroine)).

You know, going through this many captains is just not a good thing... especially in this kind of game.
