V v. W 2 Game Thread (Action Cycle 2)
OPERATION PHOENIX DOWN
Mission Briefing:
The devasting loss of the city Last Hope to the Vampire blood cults has caused a major problem for the human government's research into combating both the lycanthropy virus and the vampiric condition. Last Hope was the site of a top secret research facility, Phoenix Lab, located roughly a mile underneath the city's surface. The leading researchers there, Doctors Skwiddworth and Fleegleton had reportedly been on the verge of a breakthrough that could have turned the tide of the war in humanity's favor. It had been our hope that the facility would remain undiscovered, but approximately 30 minutes ago, a distress signal was received. The facility has been breached, and we need to find the VIP researchers and evacuate them.
That's why you've been called in.
Col. Hal Farmer will be leading the away team.
Major Seko will act as second in command.
Dr. (Nasty) Steve will be the team's medical officer.
Alpha Team will be comprised of:
Sgt. Nixit
PFC Blue-Nine
PFC Lurker
Bravo Team will be comprised of:
Sgt. Sparks
PFC Penguin
PFC Mikki
Special Ops for this mission are:
Cpl. Pie (Heavy Weapons)
Cpl. Luncid (Demolitions)
Cpl. Lumin (Sniper)
Your mission is a search and rescue. Find Dr. Skwiddworth and Dr. Fleegleton and get them to safety.
NOTE: It is highly likely that the Werewolves and Vampires both will be wanting to sway the doctors to their sides should they discover them. The knowledge they possess would be as useful to them as it is to us. On the other hand, they may just try to kill them as well. Neither of these scenarios are acceptable, but under no circumstances must they fall into enemy hands alive.
You have your orders, the choppers are standing by.

Game Rules
A brief reminder of the rules:
The Vampire Lord and the Werewolf Shaman each allow their respective team the option of "Scrying" instead of killing each action cycle.
The Hero may Scry, Hunt (kill), or Empower someone (make them into a Warder).
A Warder may protect one person, including themselves, from harm for an action cycle.
All Innocents begin the game with their Win Condition being Humanity.
At any time, Innocents may choose to take either the Mark of Blood or the Mark of the Claw, and ally themselves with one of the evil sides, permanently changing their win condition.
Win Conditions
Humanity: Kill all 4 monsters before one evil side obtains its win condition.
Vampires: Kill both Werewolves and then kill enough humans so that you are equal to or greater than the number of people without the Mark of Blood.
Werewolves: Kill both Vampires and then kill enough humans so that you are equal to or greater than the number of people without the Mark of the Claw.
The Importance of Marks
If ever the Vampires or Werewolves target each other during the game, the winner will be the side that outnumbers the other. The vampires add all people with marks of blood to their score, and the werewolves do the same with marks of the claw. If there is still a draw, neither side wins and no one dies.
Also, having a mark means that the monsters you have sided with don't count you when they are trying to achieve their win condition of outnumbering the humans.
If the Hero and a monster target each other, the Hero wins. Because that's what heroes do.

About this game
OPERATION PHOENIX DOWN - 22:04 hours
Contact has been lost with away team.
Last communication received:
"...We've located the targets... they appear to have made it to two separate panic rooms during the breach... the security forces here are all dead... no blood... There was a facility wide power surge that occured 15 minutes ago, soon after we entered the facility... we just got communication back online. The whole team has rendez-voused at my location after spreading out during the search... and... *STATIC*"
end transmition.
*******************************
After a second power surge, the facilities' systems have been completely wiped. Different individuals wander into the rendez-vous point, some alone, some in pairs... the lack of communication got everyone confused during the search. Flares are lit, as none of the lights work and the air vents have stopped pumping clean air into the subterranean lab. Finally, a head count reveals that everyone has reported in. Now all that remains is to get to the exit...
This game will be run with hopefully a bit more flavor text than last time. There won't be day and night cycles, instead, there will be action cycles and discussion cycles, which are the same thing as night and day cycles respectively. During the discussion cycle, players are encouraged to roleplay the situation as best they can... and I will try my best to make the game interesting.
As per OOC request, this game will start with a discussion cycle, and give people time to form opinions of each other before any secret roles are handed out. (Obviously at this point, 4 team members are actually monsters. 2 vampires who have perfected a glamour ability to take on the visage of their victims and 2 werewolves who were actually just exposed to the lycanthropy virus during the initial power surge.)
So, the first discussion cycle begins now... I will PM your secret roles to you just before the first action cycle.

He looks to Major Seko who is still sitting at the communications desk after the power-out cut the transmission short.
He then turns to the central desk in the room that served as the main security station for the facility they now find themselves in, around which the various teams are starting to gather, entering from different sections of the facility. He nods silently to each one as they enter and take a seat or stand

[OOC: The two scientists have already been found and we're fixing to leave, correct?]
She walks in, nodding a tired greeting to her commanders, and knowing that their team rarely bothers with the formalities during a crisis situation, sinks wearily into a seat without waiting for acknowledgement. By habit she has chosen a seat so that her back will not be facing the door, and she lays her rifle on the table in easy reach.
"Well, the halls right around us seem clear, anyway. I've been up and down them a few times and didn't spot anything out of the ordinary."
Heaving a sigh, she taps the useless radio hooked to her belt and frowns. "And for some reason I couldn't get this thing to work at all. Is it just mine that's malfunctioning or is it everyone's?"
Turning to Major Seko she asks, "No luck restoring the power yet?" She turns to glance at the frightened looking scientists seated at a table in the corner. "Good thing we found those two before it cut out. This place is like a maze. Would've been hell to have to search the entire complex without lights or communication...bad enough even without the you-know-whats still unnaccounted for."
She reaches over to idly flip the switch of a dead computer on and off a few times, lips pursed in a thoughtful frown. "I don't think I even remember how to get to the exit. Hope someone here either has a printout of the map or a damn good sense of direction."

[OOC: That is correct. Everyone has gathered at a point 3 sublevels down from the original exit... which itself is a very long elevator shaft. You all have quite a hike to get out of here, and having the whole area go pitch black has not helped the group's sense of direction. Col. Farmer however has a copy of the facilities' blueprints, and the two scientists should be useful for navigating as well.]

Dr. Skwiddworth smooths out the collar on his white lab coat absent-mindedly. He looks around the room at the military, armed in all of their glory, and smiles meekly. He wrings his bony fingers together and chuckles occasionally, seemingly at nothing at all.
"Colonel," he says awkwardly, "it's good to see you here. I don't know how they got in, but we were surely finished if you hadn't have arrived." He grins and laughs too loudly, and then quiets himself and quickly goes to fiddle with a switch on the wall.

"Would you Stop with that clicking?! I'm trying to think." She spins around with the office chair and lands on her feet with surprising agility one might not expect from such sturdy figure. The heels of her black military boots hit the floor with a loud thump that echoes around the hall. She's an unusual sight, a mulatto with dyed red hair tied back on a ponytail (of which they always kept whipering it's too tight).
"Hey doc, ain't there any laptops in here? The power ain't coming back, we need something with batteries. There must be a back-up generator somewhere in here, but those prints are ten years old, ain't showing no mods. We need to get in the systems or it'll be a long run in the dark. And you know them bastards just love the dark."

Leaning against the wall, she smiles slightly and scratches behind her ear idly, casually examining the researcher.
"Well, Doctor, this place is a pretty tough nut ta crack, ta be sure, but from what I know about 'em, it's no surprise they got in. They're a lot like roaches: sneaky, nasty, constantly spreadin' their seed, and damn difficult ta kill, nat'rally. Vermin, but dangerous vermin. We try squish 'em as best we can... but, as we all well know, they've been much more sucessful at squishin' us. With any luck... maybe ya can help change that."
She falls silent and glances briefly at the Colonel.

Dr. Fleegleton steps forward into the light. He is somewhat chubby, with a large gut that hangs over his belt. His face is covered in scruffy orange hair, the result of not having shaven in the last few days, and he has a large bald patch interrupting his wispy orange hair. He wears a beige shirt and faded blue jeans.
Fleegleton huffs and puffs, not being used to regular physical activity.
"Glad you... guys are here! I was sure... we... were done for."
Fleegleton catches his breath.
"Skwiddworth! Glad to see you're okay!" he says excitedly.

[OOC: does it matter what kind of gun(s) I have? Just a question.]
PFC Penguin appears from the shadows. He is dressed in his typical uniform, which means he's in normal uniform, except for his fedora that he at the moment is wearing a little crooked. He has his M4 Assault Rifle casually swung over his shoulder on it's strap. His pistol is in it's own holster on his belt, which also holds some of his spare clips. He is tall, about 6'3" with his boots on.
He surveys the room with his bright hazel eyes, and then nods to Seko and Farmer.
Good evening Major, Colonel.
[OOC: I have another question, do we already know our teams (alpha, bravo)?]
He then stands off to the side, partly in shadow, and says no more. He isn't the type the talks a lot.

He looks towards the large man who just entered then towards Doctor Skwiddworth
Doctors... It is good that you are safe... I hope you're without injury? I'll make sure out medic checks you out. In the meantime, please, take a seat.
He turns around and heads towards a small desk at the edge of the room, he returns with three rolls of thin paper
Someone give me a hand with these, they're just the usual, recon maps which HQ provided me with. Apparently they're based on the facility blueprints, so they might well be useful.
He places the prints, still rolled up, onto the central table
Not that we're going anywhere without power. As Major Seko has already indicated, that must be our first priority.
This facility does have a substantial power generator, let us hope that we can get it running again after that surge. There may also be an auxilliary, emergency generator.
He looks up at the ceiling, reaches up and taps at a unlit emergency light and frowns
These things should be running on battery powered closed circuits... We should at least have some emergency lighting, that surge must have been pretty substantial to have wasted the batteries in the emergency lights. That's if it was the power surge that did it...

[The blueprints are a difficult read by flare light, but the doctors can quickly confirm that the layout is accurate, as very few modifications have been made to the intial structure. The facility is comprised of three main levels, the upper-most is a civilian clearence level, where electricians, cooks, and computer tech personnel operated. It is the most expansive level.
The second level is a security check level. There is a small barracks, armory, and mess hall, along with a control room that operates the facility's internal defense systems. There are two elevators on this level. One that connects it to the 3rd level, and another that connects it to the 1st. This was the sight of the most heavy fighting that you could tell on your way down.
The third level is the research lab, where highly classified and extremely volatile experiments are done. The rumor is that the experiments involved captured Werewolf or Vampire DNA, but only the two doctors could confirm that, and they technically aren't authorized to do so.
The Power Generator is accessed through a side tunnel either from the 1st level. There is a back up generator accessible from the second level, behind a high security lock... but that shouldn't be a problem since the power isn't on.
You notice a large network of ventilation systems that lattice throughout each level.]
(OOC @Penguin: The regular infantry have already been divided up into Alpha and Bravo teams. Members of these teams know each other fairly well. Each soldier is equiped with a sidearm, an assualt rifle, a combat knife, and 1 clip of silver tipped ammo. Only special ops soldiers have additional equipment, such as Pie's rocket launcher.)
