Fantasy Role Playing Game Discussion (Ideas Welcome)

Postby swymir » Wed Jul 06, 2005 3:44 am

Well I'm starting to gain some more free time (you know between work, script, Halo, and WoW) and I guess I should start working on the setting and rules for this fantasy RPG. I figure we should have at least 2 moderators to play the NPCs to speed things up between online time. I know I can only check the forums once or twice a day.

Nevertheless what are some ideas for the setting once I get an idea on what should and shouldn't be allowed in the form of magic, creatues, and technology we'll start an official post for the beginning of the game.

What about something in the time setting of World War II. Sorry, I was just watching Saving Private Ryan the other day...and I guess this isn't what you're looking for. :(

I won't be playing but I do observe from time to time and I thought I would suggest this scenario: Strangers stranded on a mysterious South Pacific island where strange and mysterious things happen. You're right, I totally stole the idea from the TV show Lost.

I'd help out if I can be useful. Just ask.

I think this is like a brainstorming session... we just know that it's supposed to be fantasy like.

Hm... I'm afraid I do not know him, but if he's a fantasy writer then, yes. Like Christopher Paoli... and others.

Robert Jordan?

The Wheel of Time!

I have DMed alot in that setting. It's so cool...

The books are tedious to read, but the rpg is cool.

High Fantasy ala Robert Jordan is a bit overdone.

Try something cyber-punkish. Something that blends the good stuff of fantasy with the proximity of our time period.
