Oasis - Wonderwall (Thanks to upper secondary school musics class... this was one of the things we sang over and over again.)

"She twisted her hands behind her
but all the knots held good!
but she writhed her hands 'til her fingers
were wet with sweat or blood
They stretched and strained in the darkness
and the hours crawled by like years"

Sorry, had to google it, Seko, but thought it might be better to get this thread moving again, since the new one isn't flowing very well..........

The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes

"They're taking her children away
Because they said she was not a good mother...."

Maybe we should change this game so that if you haven't heard the song, once you find out what it is, you'll have to listen at least a part of it? (There are often samples on sites that sell records). Otherwise this will be just who can use Google competition.
And the version I'd heard was by Loreena McKennit. But the original poem was indeed by Alfred Noyes.

Lou Reed - The Kids. Sample found in http://www.opuscds.com/track/96776
According to Filmbug UK it's about prostitution and drug addiction.

"And she shows you where to look,
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever"

Suzanne by Leonard Cohen.

And you're right, I Googled it and listened to it and it's rather good. Yum yum...

This -might- be hard, I dunno.

"Matt makes his murderous demand:
"Foreign films, I take a stand
"And it's all uphill from here, at least I hope so
"Kate claims she can't depend on me
"For anything, and I agree
"It's crystal clear, I reach for the bottle and I dissapear."

"you better open the door before i take a hammer to the walls around it.
i cannot let you inside my cell for fear i'll sink the ship and drag us both down.
our hell ends every weekend but it's all i have to believe in.
our hell ends every weekend but it's all i have to believe in.
matt makes his murderous demand: foreign films.
i take a stand and it's all uphill from here (at least i hope so).
kate claims she can't depend on me for anything and i agree
it's crystal clear. i reach for the bottle and disappear.
our hell ends every weekend but it's all i have to believe in.
our hell ends every weekend but it's all i have to believe in.
frank fails to see the humor in my sad attempts at breakdancing in every bar along lyndale avenue.
liz likes to liquor up my thoughts from the c.c. club
to the triple rock there's no escape from the chorus of people screaming:
you better open the door before i take a hammer to the walls around it.
i cannot let you inside my cell for fear i'll sink the ship and drag us both down.
our hell ends every weekend but it's all i have to believe in.
our hell ends every weekend but it's all i have to believe in.
i'll swim backwards [x6]. i'll swim alone the long goodbye.
you better open the door before i take a hammer to the walls around it.
i cannot let you inside my cell for fear i'll sink the ship and drag us both down.
you better open the door before i take a hammer to the walls around it.
i cannot let you inside my cell for fear i'll sink the ship and drag us both down."

That'd be... "Better open the door" (Motion City soundtrack)
Currently being downloaded with 6 seconds to go.
Of course, I mean... a sample... yeah... that's it...
Ah, downloaded... sounds a bit "pop-ish" to me, but oh well.

Now try this one, shouldn't be too hard:
"The beast behind our eyes is loose,
The day has come, the day has come,
We march to Armageddon, hungry for the war
I see the hated enemy, I see what I was taught to see"

Not one hundred percent sure, but I think that's Motorhead, maybe "March or Die"?

My turn!

"When then come for me
I'll be sitting at my desk
With a gun in my hand
Wearing a bullet-proof vest
Singing 'my, my my
How the does does fly
When you know you're gonna die
By the end of the night'."

Kesbey nights - catch 22? (yeah I googled this one)

how about
"kneeling roses disappearing into moses dry mouth
breaking into fort knox stealing our intentions
hangers sitting dripped in oil
crying freedom
handed to obsoletion
still you feed us lies from the tablecloth."

Easy...BYOB, by none other than System of a Down!
(Good band, by the way)

My turn again...

"I've got a gun in my hand
But the gun won't cock
And my finger's on the trigger
But the trigger seems stuck
I can't stop staring at the tick-tock clock
And even if I could I would never give up
With a vest on my chest
A bullet in my lung
I can't believe I'm dying with my song unsung
And if and when I die won't you bury me alive
'Cause I'll never get to heaven if I'm singing this song"

"Cause she's a genuine Athenes from her head down to her feet"
