Cold War: NORAD infiltrated (Mafia game)

Postby formerly known as hf » Mon Aug 13, 2007 2:44 pm

Edit: Resurrected in the hope of re-starting, if anyone is interested?
Unlike the recent games, the characters aren't linked to roles. Thus, everyone plays a military operative at NORAD, and can RP around that as they wish (army guard, computer whizz, intelligence operative, geostrategist etc.) feel free, before the game, to give a bit of detail about the role you wish to play. No command hierarchies though, as that complicates things.

Despite the RP, anyone could be any of the assigned mafia game roles.

(On an aside; I'm confused as to why the recent games have followed the same template whereby different roles are given different character names - surely that denies RP, as you can't 'RP' darth maul, macgregor, cartman or whatever if that reveals your role...)

Setting:
late 1970s / early 1980s

In the USA, NORAD's Cheyenne Mountain operations site has been infiltrated by KGB agents.

Roles:
Soviet-alligned
(Mafia / bad peeps)
1-3 KGB spies:
Win if they equal or outnumber the USA agents.

0-1 Commie traitor:
Traitor
On the side of the KGB, but does not know who they are - counts towards the number of 'bad peeps' - but seen as good by the seer. Does not need to be assassinated for 'good peeps' to win.

US-Alligned
(Innocents - the 'good peeps')
4-6 USA Armed forces personnel:
Win if they assasinate all the KGB spies.

1 MI6 Double agent:
Seer
A British MI6 agent who has infiltrated the KGB, and has been posted as a KGB agent in NORAD.
Can request to see the role of any player each round.

0-1 FBI bodyguard:
Can elect to protect any chosen individual, at the expense of their life.

0-1 Army General:
Vigilante
Gun-ho army officer who can take down one other player of their choosing at the same time as a lynching.

Rather than days, there will be an 'execution' (lynching) and an 'assassination' (night kill) every 2-3 InGame hours (i.e: when I think a lynching is in order - when all or most people have voted).

Woot, I'm in.

But I don't think the game will last 11 days (as August 25th you go away? how long?) :?

I can play, but only if it starts later in the month. I'm without a computer starting tomorrow and going on to Sunday.

DIE COMMIE SCUM!

I'm in!

Although I might only be able to get on once a day for an hour or so, I think I can still keep up with the game.

Yeah I am in. I sit in front of the computer refreshing my character screen every 5 minutes to no avail. I will gladly do anything to keep me from having to sit idle and wait for some sleeping Cantr character to sleeptalk.

I would like to play, but I am not going to let you know I am playing. I will be a double secret agent and no one will even know I am here, so of course I will win.

Hmm. Dunno, but I'd like to play if it is. The only problem being that I leave for college next monday (English college, not university) and it doesn't look at all likely that I'll get internet in my room... :( My charries are gonna suffer.

I've added you to the list smellfungus, but are you actually going to be able to play? If so, I'll hand out roles once I know who's playing for sure.
