*frowns* I guess my vote is for the Captain as well. But I don't like how we came to this decision. And I do not like this military protocol of shoving people into space. Couldn't we have the computer put those we vote for into a deep stasis, like those of the colony members? That way we don't have to kill innocents? Especially in such a vulgar manner?

Final tally of votes:
Captain Surly: 7 VOTES
Mikki: 1 VOTE
The crew determins to end the killings by removing the captain from his position. Now wanting to come under fire later for mutiny, Lieutenant Dee files the Articles for Removal of a Superior Officer with the SWYMIR unit and the non-AI computer. Lieutenant Dee, Mr. Nixit, and Mr. Floyd, armed with phasers, go to the Captain's chambers to serve the papers to him and to remove him from his rank.
He is stiff-backed when they arrive, and gives the Lieutenant a look of indignant outrage, but he is silent while she reads the Articles to him. When Mr. Nixit takes his arm to lead him to his doom, however, the former captain turns to him and sneers "do not touch me, Ensign."
Believing that it is too dangerous to leave him on board, even in stasis, the crew opts for a "mercy sentence" by locking the Captain into an escape pod and jettisoning it from the ship. It's little mercy, though, as SwYMIR estimates the chances of the Captain surviving to reach a habitable planet before fuel, air, or water run out, at only 9%. Still, it is a higher percent than their companions have received.
Before stasis begins, SWYMIR announces that the probability for mission success has dropped to 78%, with the removal of the Captain, and is now dangerously close to failure ranges.
STASIS BEGINNING. PLEASE RETURN TO STASIS CHAMBERS.
The ship's computer voice comes over the system. Wearily, the crew climb into their chambers and activate the stasis cycles, hopeful that the next Wake Cycle, at least, will be without incident, and that they might still salvage this ill-fated Mission.
Vampires, coordinate and send me your victim.
Hacker, send me your investigation.
Lock Override, send me your protectee.

ATTENTION. STARDATE 29.6.2505. WAKE CYCLE BEGIN. ALL CREW REPORT TO STATIONS. STASIS CYCLE WILL RE-COMMENCE IN DAYS, AT 5.7.2505.
The crew wakes after what seems like an impossibly short period of time. The ship's computer, designed to mitigate temporal confusion in hyperspace jumps, is also programmed to maintain an internally-consistent clock that will not report any relevant-time date. Thus, a day has passed, but on Earth, it may have been forty years.... the crew of the Stephen Carr won't know until the Mission is over and they return home.
As the crewmembers arrive at the bridge, they discover that, again, one of their crew is missing. Mikki looks around, frustrated, and she and Dr. Sparkle exchange an exasperated and worried glance-- is it to be the curse of command that every commander of this vessel get the sleeping sickness?
For indeed, of all the crewmembers remaining, only one hasn't reported for duty. Acting Captain Dee is the only one missing from her post.
Mr. Nixit and Mr. Floyd go to Dee's quarters, but find her stasis chamber empty, cycled as normal. The crew splits into teams to search the ship, and finally finds the former lieutenant, locked inside the airlock, drained completely of blood.
The look of abject terror on her frozen face would make even the strongest blanche. The crew returns to their posts, strain and worry rippling through them like cosmic radioactive waves.

looking away from Dee's lifeless body, he looks at Mikki, nodding solemly
Well, it does indeed appear that my suspicions about Dee were dead wrong. And killing the captain has not helped at all. But where to begin? I'm at a loss.
Anyone have a ciggarette?[/i]
