Only in America, would you get people going mad about the word hor. It's like the Janet Jackson thing at the superbowl.

Actually, ill-informed, patriotic Englishman, I am Canadian.
And if 'whore' is family friendly, then I'd like to hear a list of words that aren't.
All I'm saying is that if this forum is family friendly, then it's not even an ARGUMENT as to whether whore should be used or not.
But should the forum be family friendly? I don't think that's necessary, but according to the people who made the decision, it is suppposed to be.
Would you say whore at the dinner table, or in school, or at work? No.
I'd like to hear a CD and GAB opinion on this...

Dinner table, the days of people siting around the dinner table where I live have long gone. Best chance of my family being in the same room is, well, a coincidence. Anyway, thats not the point.
Id use it instead of the word prostitute yeh, but not as a derogotary term. But then thats not what it is nick, it's a bit of fun.

Yes to the first two, as I live in a dormitory. No to the third, because I tutor kids ages 5-9 (who are too young to play cantr, by the way).

And both of you I assume don't consider yourself kids? Well when you WERE kids, would it have been acceptable for you to say whore?
You guys are all missing the point here.
Familly friendly forum.
Don't argue to me that we don't need a family friendly forum, or that kids hear bad words.
That's not the point.
Try to convince me that the word 'whore' belongs in a family forum.

I personally don't find anything wrong with the word whore. It is not considered a bad word where I live unless used to insult someone. I don't even think whore would make onto a list of words that would get a movie a PG rating by the MPAA and they have tough standards.

Might I mention that a post-whore is a correct term for a tool that digs holes in the ground for posts. In fact the joke comes from Firefly.

Can't you just use something like post hog?
It seems rather unnecessary...

Is it really? I thought she said "post-holer", not "post-whore" (in the episode where the Doc and River get kidnapped). Because the tool is called a post-holer or a post-hole-digger.
(See
this post at FireflyFans.net, specifically the one towards the bottom of the page.)

Whore is not a bad word?
'Mommy, what is a whore?'

Yeah, I guess I'll have to decide this one...
As an adolescent (hehe, close enough to a kid), it's not appropriate to say whore in front of your parents, or other adults.
We still say it... but not in earshot of adults...

Becuase a kid young enough to ask something like that is going to play Cantr?
