Pop Up advert

Postby Solfius » Wed Jun 14, 2006 9:01 pm

I occasionally get a popup when I come onto the Cantr homepage.

I've not had this happen when accessing any other site, and it doesn't happen all the time.

it gives an address in its title, which is http://ilead.itrack.it which cannot be viewed (gives an error if you try)

Is this to do with the site, or my computer. If it's my computer any idea what's causing it?

I have this too from everywhere I try the Cantr homepage. If it's not something harmful in Cantr's database, then I guess it's an attempt to make some money for the game. I wish there was another way though, since it is annoying when you're trying to show somebody the site....

I just wanted to check it out, to make sure A) it wasn't me, and B) it wasn't something that wasn't meant to be there

Well it has always happened when I play at work (IE6) but Firefox blocks the pop-up automatically - although I don't think Jos will be pleased at that!

I think they are 'ethical' ads... WWF appears quite often...

I've seen this same thing happen on newly re-imaged computers at my work.
When I have to check 'net connectivity, Cantr.net is my homepage. 8)

Can't be spyware on the PC, as IE was installed mere minutes before launching. I'm actually trying to make it happen a few more times, so I can see if it's a banner Ad that launches the "ilead" popup page.

Indeed. There was another thread about this that you might want to look at.

Ssh. I do. The junk isn't spoken so no one's losing money, unless Jos gets some contribution.

I had somehow managed to get rid of it for a while, but now it's back. Haven't gotten porno myself, but then again, I don't really wait to see what's on the screen before I close it.
