another question about rules

Postby fishfin » Sun May 28, 2006 7:49 am

this is just a 'random' question but if you are in a town and a charicter who you think is a thief (from your other caracter's experiance) comes into town what should you do, let that caracter steal everything? or if you are in a ship and a pirate ship is sailling towards you, is it ok to turn around and run to the nearest port even if it means changing your course?

Yes you should let them steal things and No you should not avoid the ship. doing so would be a CRB

If your character has no in game knowledge of the previous actions of either the thief or the pirate then you cannot have them act on things you have learnt as a player through another character.

If the thief does steal things whihc your character witnesses or hears about then you could act on that case after the event . The same with the pirate

However, Fishfin, if someone says like, 'We should go gather SoAndSoObject for the Sabre', then take advantage of that and decourse to the nearest place with SoAndSoObject!!
Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

I think that would be called "bending the rules". In the strictest sense he should only do that if his character was inclined to, and not because he, the player, knew a pirate ship was near

I don't see how there's anything wrong with using a map...

Well, all right, but in most cases there are maps all over the ground, at least in places that are making sabres. It's no mystery where the limestone and hematite are. :)

....eh? granted, but:

This thread was about using OOC knowledge to avoid pirates or catch theives. *feels a headache coming on*

So I'm confused.
