2 days to cut and shave a small log
0.5 days for a medium log and
1 day for a large log
Doesn't make any sense to me. All 3 need the same tools.

No they don't require the same tools
A lathe is required to produce a medium log in 0.5 days and 1 day for a large log.
Without a lathe you can produce a small log in 2 days, with a lathe you can produce it in 0.5 days (same time but haf the resources of the medium log) , you also don't require the peavey and drawknife under those circumstances.

Neither the Wiki nor any information in game mentions the need of a machine to make a log.
From what I understand here, please correct me if it's wrong, there's option A: use a peavey and a drawknife to turn timber into a log; and option B: use a lathe to turn timber into a log. Is that how it goes?

Almost ... but not quite - shaving horses are required for the tooled medium and large versions
Exact specification is
- 1) Shaving and cutting a large log raws:timber>500;days:1;tools:peavey,drawknife + shaving horse
2) Shaving and cutting a large log raws:timber>500;days:0.5 + lathe
3) Shaving and cutting a medium log raws:timber>250;days:1;tools:peavey,drawknife + shaving horse
4) Shaving and cutting a medium log raws:timber>250;days:0.5 + lathe
5) Shaving and cutting a small log raws:timber>125;days:2;tools:peavey,drawknife
6) Shaving and cutting a small log raws:timber>125;days:0.5 + lathe

Machine requirements for object manufacture are now displayed on the build information page for each object.
An implementation of a long overdue feature (though not to my knowledge on any ProgD to do list)
So, for example, the first medium log build information now displays
Object: medium log
Days needed: 1
Raw materials needed: 250 grams of timber
Objects:
Tools needed: peavey
drawknife
Machines needed: shaving horse

To make a lathe you will need a shaving horse and all the tools needed to make logs with a shaving horse.
There is little need to manufacture a lathe unless you have plans to make huge amounts of logs. The cost of a lathe seldomly outweigh the reduction in manufaturing time for logs.

Logs are believed to be either deimplemented or in the process of being deimplemented from Cantr.
I presume this is incorrect
Strictly speaking it is correct - though not very helpful . Logs were removed but Small logs, Medium Logs and Large Logs were put in their place - The Wiki should really say that.
