docking question

Isn't a dinghy supposed to be able to dock to any town with sea access? I don't k now that much about sailing, so I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong or what, but I've got a dinghy right next to a town, and the only thing I can dock to is my ship. (I can PM somebody with the name of the boat and where it is if I need to.)

If you just undock your boat, then you need wait some time (for movement ship turn). Every movement ship turn docking list is check and update. You can be very close to city, but docking list is check and update only when there is time for that, not when you undock boat from boat.
