Character turned around, but this didn't (really) work.

One of my characters was cycling from Akypor Forest (north) to Akypor, but turned around before reaching Akypor.
Next message proves the turning around had some effect:
1449-1: You arrived at Aky Forest (north).
But the next message, when leaving the bike, shows something went wrong:
1449-1: You enter Akypor, where you see 26 people, leaving <bike name>
Looking at the map, it really is Akypor that she ended up in.
This is the first teleport for my character and I hope she can handle the shock. She has plenty of food and is not in a hurry, so I guess she'll just head back and will be fine.

I've noticed several times with my charries when turning around doesn't actually work. It says I turned around, but when I log in later, I'm going the same direction I was originally. I've never reported it because it seems so vague, and I wasn't sure it really happened, but now that someone else experienced it, I know I wasn't imagining things.

I've noticed that if you stop, when you start again, you automatically start going the direction you were originally going. So I always check to make sure which way they are going if they have to stop for any reason.

Close but not strictly correct .
Roads have a default direction, and travel in this direction is recorded as a positive speed. Travel in the other direction is recorded as a negative speed. Stopping means a speed of zero which has no sign so you end up facing the default direction.
So if anyone stops on a road then they will always face one predefined direction regardless of which way they were facing.
This doesn't explain Pieter's issue which I can only assume is due to the problems we had over the weekend.

There is also so that you can turn uround without making it visible. If you klick the turn around button it is visible, but if you hit = on a character heading oposit direction you have you also turn around but it isn't displayed.

this literally just happened to me today. worst possible timing too.
1451-0.27: You turned around.
1451-0.22: You leave Sjoftich, using LAND CLOUD OF THE KEPT, taking Southern Coast Way to Blaman Forest.
1451-1.8: You arrived at Sjoftich.
1451-1.12: You enter Blaman Forest, where you see 0 people, leaving LAND CLOUD OF THE KEPT.
I reported it in Flyspay, is that all I need to do? Now I have to travel back to where I started.

The bug should be fixed now.
I can't spot it on Flyspray. What's its number?
