I have recently changed the named of a boat that has come into my possession, but when I do anything with the location, the line still reads (old name of boat) adjusts its course to 270..... How can I change the name there? Thanks. notsure

You can't ... I can
The event generated when sailing was adjusted used the original name as you correctly pointed out. The code has been changed so it now uses the dynamic name.

Will there ever be a way to change the name permenantly, so that new people see the new name and not the old? This would also be useful for buildings.

Seems a good idea, the buildings thing, but that means there could be much sabotaging of names... you'd have to restrict it somehow.

Maybe only originator of project will have such possibility if he is still alive - if not, first who make change make change permanent up to own death?

I believe renamable buildings are being worked on - the goal is for buildings to start out without names but have signs (or just the option to build signs, which could be removed or changed.

A building deed could be created, only the owner of the deed would have the power to change to name of the building...
Is this a good idea? Could it ever work? Is it in the wrong Forum?... Yes... but i'm too shy to suggest things...

That would be completely unrealistic. One realistic implementation would be to have a nameplate with a lock that would have to be opened for the name to be changed. Same effect, more realistic.
But this should indeed be in the Suggestions forum, under one of the many threads concerning building renaming.
