1356-4: You see a wild boar attack David Martin.

1356-4: You get attacked by a wild boar, and you lose 10 percent strength. You saved 17 percent using your iron shield.

Hardly seems fair, letting them attack more than once, but only letting us attack once a day. Is this a bug, like I'm thinking?

Individualization maybe? Besides, every person gets to attack once each day, so why not every boar? I think this has happened before, it depends on the population. And when's life ever fair?

That gives me an idea. Why don't we let some players play the animals instead of playing humans? We could have uprisings and things!

There are no white tigers on cantr.

If animals are indiviudalised, I want to attack each single stinking animal. It'll take me a couple hours, but I'd enjoy every second of it.

If each animal gets to attack, those twenty boars are gonna kill me in short order, not to mention the cheetahs, bears, deer, horses, and cows. Luckily, we're far enough inland, I don't see any pelicans.

Each animal has one chance per day to attack one character , this has not changed in anyway .

Of course we could make it fairer and let each animal have a daily chance to attack each character and also ensure they work together picking on the weakest person first as Cantrians do when hunting

Let's say there's 8 boars and 3 deers in a location with two characters.

When it comes to animal attack time, does the group of boars check to see if it attacks one character, then checks to see if the group of boars attacks the other character, then the deers check one and then the other or ...

does each and every boar check to see if it attacks the first character, and then each and every boar checks to see if it attacks the second, and the the deers do the same?

I don't see how us cantrians get to "pick" the weakest, when they're all grouped together.

As Marol says each animal gets one chance of one attack per day . If they do attack the animal attacks a random person present at the same location at the time of the attack.

In your example, and assuming there are no net changes in numbers during the day (due to animal migration, birth & death) Then there are potentially up to 11 animal attacks possible on that day . First we start with the 1st of the wild boars, We calculate if it makes an attack that day. If it does a character present is selected randomly as the target of the attack . Then we do the same for the 2nd wild boar and so on until all 11 animals have been processed

Attacks by characters against a herd, result in damage being done to the weakest animal in the pack . All attacks are directed against that creature until it either it dies or an even weaker animal joins the pack (due to inward migration) , or it moves on due to outward migration(this will only occur if it is the only member of the herd left)

Wow. That makes Aki a little more scary knowing my character is subject to around a hundred and fifty animals decide if I'm lucky or tasty.

17 rabbits
19 cows
12 deers

And that's because we've killed a few lately.

Allright, I have more question then. I have a character on Burgeo that's been after an elephant. They illustrate this phenomenon nicely. I barely do damage to them when they seem to be new and healthy. In the beginning, I'll start doing one or two points, then get up to nine and then near twenty, but then it sometimes drops down to one and two again. To me, it appears as if the weak elephant was motivated to move away, and I'm hunting the weakest remaining elephant in the herd, which is rather healthy.

Wolves, deer and rabbits also seem to move in packs, not just individuals. Do hurt animals decide if they're going to move, or just animals that have had the herd number whittled down, like you'd said?

No ...hurt animals are not specifically more likely to move , they are more likely to stay - In fact they will only move if there are no more animals left to leave

As with attacking first we calculated how many animals are going to migrate away (lets say thats N animals) - Then , giving prioity to the non-injured animals, N animals each choose a random path put of the location and start travelling , leaving the location (actually the type of terrain is also taken into account - different animals prefer differnt terrains)
If more than one leave on the same route , they become a herd/pack

If there are at least one animal left of that type, then it will be the damaged one. If all the animals migrate then the damaged one is on the road.

Then we see how many animals arrive in the location - Their travel is similar to characters foot travel . If there are no animals of that type then they will make a new herd/pack , if there are animals of that type they will join that herd/pack. If they are more damaged than the weakest of the exisiting ones they will be come the new target (the other damaged one effectively heals it self) , if they are less damaged or have no damage then they become a healthly member of the herd and the exisiting damaged one is still the target for hunting


It sounds like your elephant experience was a case of all elephants leaving the location (including the one you were hunting) and a new herd/pack arriving who's weakest member was healthier . This is rare but possible (and is the only explanation of what you experienced)

It wasn't multiple attacks at the same tick, just a short series of brutal maulings. It was a swift and unexpected end, with no blame for the people of that town. I was a mere 60% hurt, What's the worst that could happen ... ?
