One tip for saving minutes is to write things in note pad or whatever you prefer, and then cut and paste them when you log in. This especially helps when you're writing longer notes in game.
Another thing you can do ... Cantr's minutes left subtracts your minutes based on how long it's been since you last clicked something while your browser was connected to cantr.
So, you click write note icon, write your note, click the bit that saves the note, and you lose the couple minutes you wrote the note in.
That also means that you can click on a character, start scanning the pages long events page for a large town, have to go potty, get ambushed by your mother to take out the trash, get a phone call from your great aunt, have dinner, and come back to your still open browser and name someone that's introduced themselves; and you'll be out all the minutes it too from when you started looking at the events page to when you named the character.
The best thing to do when you have a situation where you are pulled away from the computer is to simply close your browser when you come back. If you hit the log out button, it's part of cantr, and you lose the minutes from between clicks. If you close the browser, launch a new broswer window, and relog into cantr, you won't lose more than a single minute.
