0 grams of cod
I've seen this more then once, but I don't remember all the places. I believe I saw it in Wirwarov Hills east (Dutch island) and I know it's in Sil as well (Dutch island again).
Perhaps it only happens in the Dutch areas. I've never seen it happen with other resources.

it happens with things that deteriorate. The reason it happens so often with fish is because it's not edible raw and people who are hungry aren't going to bother picking it up. Also, you don't catch much fish per day (unlike, say, grain or meat, which can't be eaten raw either) so 10g of cod is more likely to rot down to 0 than 400g meat.
if you drop some cod and pick it up again it'll 'pick up' the 0g as well. poof, no more problem.

Yeah I'm trying to come to terms with the having to cook fish rule. It's quite irritating to me. So maybe rainbow trout doesn't make for the perfect hunk of shashimi you've ever had, but I would think it would do in a pinch.

Someone said there comes 0 grams because someone tries to fish with their bare hands and they should use equipment. 0 grams of something is seen quite often with different resources, but I remember that if you try to pick it up it says there isn't enough to pick or something. If you have more of that resource then dropping some on the 0 grams then picking it up would sound logical.

i don't think food deteriorates actually, so SekoETC is probably right. with fish, since you only collect 10g a day without tools, it's possible for someone not at full health or with bad fishing skills to collect less than 1g of fish in an hour long project which might cause 0g to end up in thier inventory.

0 grams of something on the ground, last I heard, was due to the pile of resources all rotting away... And also, if I remember right, dropping some of the resource and picking it up again should fix it.

i have never witnessed resources rotting away.
that's not to say that they don't, but if they did, it would be news to me.

Inside they don't, outside they do.
