Boat Fiasco

I posted this at Flyspray 24 hours ago, and haven't seen any indication that anything's being done there, so I figure I'll post it here as well...

We've just finished a boat in Seatown Lakeside. A longboat. Someone else's project, but they're gone/passed on, anyway...

The point is that the very hour the project finished, I tried to board the boat to make a lock (we've been having pirate problems lately, so this is somewhat important to the town), and I was told that the vehicle is locked, and I have neither the key nor a lockpicking tool.

As far as I know, locks aren't automatically made on vehicles, and no one had the time to make one (nor do I think anyone else in town has a screwdriver and iron, anyway). And of course no key or etc. miraculously ended uip on the ground when the boat construction finished. It's just strange and annoying.

Please help.

All boats come with locks and keys now. Or most, at least. Because it's just stupid for a pirate to board the boat before anyone else can and go off with it. The key goes to the person whose name the project is in, or falls on the ground if that person isn't there. At least, that's how it's supposed to happen.

Nobody picked up a key, and there's no key on the ground.

When did this "free lock" thing happen?

It's originated twice. I don't know the first origin, which could be the first creation of Cantr vehicles. There was a period not long ago when only vehicles that involved metal came with locks, but Anthony took issue with that pretty soon when it became essentially impossible to build a boat without it being stolen. I don't know who restored the free locks on longboats, or exactly when.

If the key never appeared, that sounds like a bug indeed.

Boats use to come with the locks already on them but that was changed a while back so this is probably an older project before the change so the key ended up on the body of the dead guy somewhere beneath the soil somewhere. Better start digging....  Just kidding. Give Thomas or Jos sometime to fix it.
