ERROR: Repeated Bone Spear attack failures!

In the Quillanoi prison, my character has attempted 3 separate attacks on the same character with the same bone spear, and has dealt 0 damage each time.
You hurt a man in his twenties using a bone spear, who loses 0 percent strength.
If he had a shield, my understanding is that I would've been informed. I also successfully hit the same character for 7 damage with my bone knife. My character is likely to lose this fight (a bone spear duel with no shields) despite having attacked 4 times to the opponent's 2.
His health is high (about 70%) and was higher for two of the bone spear attacks.
