Item Material changing

So my character was making a claymore awhile back but I ended up cancelling it as I realized I forgot to put a description. Then I forgot about making it again as I got distracted by other things. Today I realized that I used a wooden hilt when making it but when I cancelled the project I got a steel hilt back. Not sure if it makes any difference at all but figured it is something I should point out.

They are interchangeable, so it doesn't cause any problem. When the object is added to the project, then the information about type used is lost, so the game gives back a random object which fulfills the requirement.

It's only a problem if the variable you receive can then be dismantled - ie, you make a bone hilt, cancel, get steel, dismantle for raw steel, etc. But I don't believe hilts can be dismantled, so it's fine.

Even if it were possible, imagine the amount of time used for a material that is now as common as steel?

I always wondered if the use of wooden, bone or other "inferior" materials might hasten the degradation of items such as a sword. Would it need longer and/or more frequent repairs or not? I guess Greek essentially answered that now?

There is plenty of bone hanging around, so a cheap material for hilts and shafts is readily available.

The probable way it works now, there's probably a flag or tag called hilt that you can set on certain objects, and the crafting recipe probably only specifies a hilt flag/tag, checks, then consumes the object. If cancelled, it just produces a random object based on the tag. Making the finished object depend on the quality of material used would require a bit more effort imo.
