Cantr and Firefox

I've been unable to properly access Cantr using Firefox (44.0) over the passed few months and using IE generates Certificate errors. I've had no problems using my android mobile and tablet. My problem would seem to be because of the site Certificate because Avast Web Shield complains about the Cloudflare certificate whenever I access the site with the desktop. Would this be because of the phasing out of SHA-1 Certificates? Any suggestions of how to get it to work with Firefox will be appreciated.

Of course the problem maybe just me. It oft is.

Thanks

1. Are you connecting to cantr.net or http://www.cantr.net?
2. Could you post result of ping command of domain you're using
3. on cantr site in firefox from menu bar select: Tools -> Page info -> Security -> View Certificate. Could you post screenshot of window you'll got?

Error looks strange, as we don't use Cloudflare.

What errors IE generate? What version of IE and Windows you have?

Also, could you for test disable antivirus and check if problem persists? Disabling AV isn't solution, but if it's trying to intercept and analyze https communication, then different things can happen. I understand, that you don't have problems with other sites using https?

You may also want to check to see if your machine has been configured to access web pages through a proxy. Most home internet connections do not need to use a proxy and if your machine has been configured by malware to use one, that could be the cause of your errors.

Thanks for the help. It is probably me. If I use http://www.cantr.net it changes automatically to https://cantr.net. I have "https scanning" enabled in the Avast webshield in my antivirus software. The feature claims to decrypt and scan encrypted traffic to detect malware in https connections and this gives the problem. I get the same results using Firefox with another site as well but all others I regularly use, http and https, are OK. I shall investigate further when I have a little more time and report.

I checked the Avast forum and others have seen the same problem as me. Haven't read through it all yet but I found that by just disabling and re-enabling the https checker allows the pages to display now although I still get the warning pop-up. There was a suggestion that the cloudflare link might be in one of the site's cookies. Something else I'll try and check.
