a vehicle with absolutely nothing on it, not even a lock , but I don't even see the X button to attempt a disassembly.

You can't disassemble all vehicles so it might your is one of those that cannot be. What's the type of it?

Yes, only some types of vehicles can be disassembled. The list of vehicles being able to be disassembled will be expanded in the future.

The ones that can currently be disassembled are: rickshaw, tandem bike, longboat, dinghy, sloop, small wooden cart, small shipwreck, shipwreck.

On a sidenote: I've found it odd that one can disassemble a rickshaw and a tandem, but not a bike or bike cart.

Disassembly is being implemented based on # built in the world. There are three times more of the former than there are of the latter. The next step is going to make it possible to disassemble rafts and motorcycles.

So basically you will be stuck with the least useful of the vehicles, while you can disassemble the more useful ones.

Wooden carts and longboats are hardly "the more useful" ones...
