Does anyone know if it ends exactly three days after the final attack, down to the exact second, or at one of the ticks?

During the death tick. It's 8 times a day, one of these is well-known for causing death from starvation.

Thanks. For future reference, it seems it can happen before the full three days have passed, so long as enough ticks have passed. I think it was done x.23 but the NDS character recovered at x.12 or something like that.
