fast question

There is a character. who is under attack in a town from it seems bandits. There seems to be some OCC talk on the radio..thats a dumb thing but I got to ask. Its not against the rules right? He filled up the room so no one can enter. I fail to see how that in anyway can be against rules. Since there are no in game rooms really and clearly since there is a weight limit in a room you can do it.

3714-6.24: You hear from radio at freq. 100: "(ooc: and isnt it violating game rules to fill a room so noone can enter? Im pretty sure admin got involved when a stone knight got kidnapped and the kidnapper filled the front room with himself and resources so she coudlnt be rescued?)"

More occ radio. Ugh..
3714-6.27: You hear from radio at freq. 100: "(ooc: well im pretty sure the admin broke zoey out, what that guy had done there sounds like the same sort of thing, he filled the outer room so just he could fit, which meant noone could get in to stop him, so id say it was the same thing 'abusing game mechanics n all that')"

I disagree. Now with the stone knight issue I agree with the modship 100%. It kept a player from using a character thus not enjoying his or her gameplay experience. However this person locked himself self in to stay alive. He is alone as he has said. If the people outside decide to not lift the siege then it is there own choice. In no way do they have to.

I absolutely think that this kind of OOC talk should not be happening in game. if players have an issue they should bring it to the forum or pm staff. Annoys the hell out of me.

Annoys everyone, I think...
But ranting doesn't answer Nathan's question and, to be honest, I want to know the answer too...

Well if one takes the Wiki posted rules into account. In no way is it against the rules. So it would seem. But conformation for be best I think.

Oh yeah... the question :P

In my opinion it should not be against the rules for the reasons already noted.

Agreed. Also for those who think it is taking advantage of the game mechanics. Its a classic siege who runs out of food first or id the person or people being sieged first gets help. And you can in RL fill a room so no one else can get it. Its stupid but you really can.

I don't believe it is against the rules.

I'd agree. IRL, if I want to pile op kilos and kilos of stuff in front of a door, the person behind it is never going to get out... It's the simple truth. If this would be against the rules, then full rooms in general should be against the rules... Which would be odd.

I never did find out how things happened with the kidnapped Stone Knight. I'm surprised that PD intervened, if the OOC radio message is true. In the past, staff took a hands-off approach to barricaded chars. There have been discussions on how to prevent the "abuse" of game mechanics, but I really don't recall a rule against it being established or that any solution was found for the scenario.

Until now barricading a room is not against the rules. And as annoying as it is, in my opinion that should not get changed. I think that kind of "abusing" game mechanics one should be able to solve with game mechanics (yes, it is realistic that a person can barricade a room for a while but I think it would be also realistic if a group of people could still break in after a not too short period of hard work). If I remember correctly, this is one of the reasons for the discussion of building destruction. (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23093 and also interesting to read: viewtopic.php?p=399062#p399062)

I only know she was locked up can someone PM me details? Just cause I have been wondering lol. and the stone knights themselves where very not forthcoming.
