Removing notes from envelopes?

Am I being stupid, or just missing something? I can't seem to find the way to take a note from an envelope, in order to edit it. There are no checkboxes or anything, like the interface seems to suggest there should be. Same issue inb both Chrome and IE

Just missing that above the list of notes you have in the envelope, just on top of it, there's a button that says "Take notes", once you click it you see again the checkbox.

Thanks. I had tried it before. Apparently it doesn't work in IE8 (at least with my settings?), but does in Chrome.
