How long time does it take for a starving person to die?

A few hours if you are truly starved. 20 days if you are just beginning to get hungry.

With the new stomach mechanism, can you eat food between the food tick and the death tick and avoid a starving death? That is, you have no food for 20 days. You are still alive because the death-by-starvation tick hasn't happened yet. You find food. Can you save yourself?

Yes, but that will be changing once the newest changes go into effect.

No I don't think it's going to change. It may have been the plan in some point but as far as I can remember, the new system also allows healing from 100% hunger instantly.

That's good it won't change! One of the things I really liked about the stomach implementation was being able to heal hunger instantly. Really sucks when a char wakes up right after the eating tick, grabs food, then dies 2 min later.

I should have waited with my question a couple of hours, he died right now. (insert happy and/or sad smiley here)

I have been checking him rather frequently but it was only some days ago I saw he was really hungry. Maybe the "hungry only" isn't visible for me, only at the bar for the person himself.

Now I have some dragging and burying to do. And some exciting locks to open.

I think the "looks very hungry" message appears 3 days before they starve.
