IRC chat + forum account

hi there
is the Cantr chat/Newnet down? i tried for 10min to connect but with no success
a friend of mine just registered on the forum but can't write posts or anything - does he need to get his forum account confirmed cos i can't remember?

with the link on the cantr-page I had problems to get to IRC today, too. I tried it afterwards successful with gogloom
Your friend needs to write on the new user forum to get full access to the normal forums.

erm...where's that cos i can't see such a forum?

you can't see it because you're not a new user
For new users it's above all the other forums.

Yeah, it's only visible to new users and people who can moderate it.
I tried to use the irc client today but it didn't work. I thought it was just me. Apparently it isn't.

Also, irc.tobug.net (which it sometimes connects through) has been down. Not just for our irc link
