Islands through telescope

I've got a question:

If I sail with a telescope, I will see dockable places with an extended range? I mean will the message "You see dockable place" is generated?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it's only the visible graphics that is affected.

I'm asking because I think it's important for sailors who are about to discover new land. If they reach it when player is sleeping, they could simple pass it without noticing.

Yes, but we can't expand the docking range. Even now it's possible to dock to a location on the other side of an island.

Yes, that is what I was afraid of. So, this would probably require another message, which won't allow docking.

"You see a shoreside location at #DIRECTION#." perhaps? That would be useful, although it would be cool if they were only mentioned on first sighting and not on every boating tick.

Most explorers use large ships that doesn't get the "docking to land" option anyway. So they'd likely only see harbours, which are dockable from a longer range than land anyways.

That's why I said shoreside locations rather than dockable places. Because it wouldn't matter if they were dockable or not. I bet most people have a longboat or a dinghy docked to their raker anyway.
