No Soda on Aki Island?

The maps my character has on Aki Island suggest there is no Soda on the entire island. This is a little bit unfair.. It will be impossible for towns to advance to the next level without it. Windows for cars cannot be made (a huge hinderance to the development of the town) and aluminium is impossible to produce.
I understand that a character would be required to go to another island, but small towns of 5 or so who would normally have the capability to develop higher-level vehicles are unable to obtain Soda, especially towns in the centre of the island.
Is the resource department able to add Soda to somewhere on the island?
If not, there -has- to be an alternative to Soda when making aluminium and glass (and other stuff). Or at least an artificial way to make Soda itself..
Soda is Sodium which is salt as I undrstand.. perhaps one could make Soda from a machine involving Salt and other materials?
It's a bit ridiculous that a character has to travel to another island for soda.
If a town cannot develop advanced technology, they will not be able to support large capacities. As a result, many characters will die off and players may potentially quit.

Soda wouldn't fix the problem. Theres no magnesium for engines either.
If you want an expensive vehicle so badly then pick up some aluminium when you're on your expededition to another island for magnesium.

You're kidding me! Wow.. Aki Island is so very unlikely to go anywhere. Such a shame..

There are -lots- of islands that can't ctreate an engine. There are even islands without wood to even get started making a boat to travel and trade to get anything manufactured. The end of the tech tree is around fur loincloth and bone bagh-nakh there. What makes Aki island so special they should have everything?

Why does it have to? I love Aki for all of its "primitive atmosphere" and miss having a char there. I actually liked it a lot better awhile back when it was more difficult to survive the animals.

Well, for small islands, it's understandable not to have certain resources. But Aki Island is huge, which means there should be a large population in time, and to traverse and connect between towns one requires a fast vehicle.
Aki island is destined to fail, imo.

The answer told to the people on woodless island was: Wait until people come to trade with you. Which never happened as far as I know. Most other islands do trade for resources with other islands, so do that to build your engine?

Not all places were made to succeed or advance beyond primitive life. I wouldn't make such a big fuss about soda when sea travel is so common and unlimited. And none of my characters have ever made a car, very few of them have made glass either, and I've been playing for almost 6 years so it's not such a big deal. If every island had every resource in the game then there would be no trading, so at least you'll know now what to ask from traders if they ever bother coming to such a shitty place as Aki. I think it ought to stay primitive. My character there doesn't know how to make iron and thinks even leather is high-tech.

besides, I recall there are some nice vehciles on Aki, if you're lucky enough know where to look for them.
Thats what the point of getting flat pack vehicles from Cantr Ikea was
some assembly required

Get on a boat and go trading, like everyone else.

K-Island also doesn't have any soda, and it did quite fine.

Hmm.. I gave this a lot of thought, and changed my mind.
If I take the perspective of an over-see'er, watching the island grow, I would prefer there not to be soda/magnesium.
If I take the perspective of my character, I WANT MY GOD DAMN SODA!!!!!!!!!
So yeah, it's fair enough. This suggestion was half motivated by my character's desire for Soda.
And, my character has the best vehicle in his vicinity anyway, so I don't know why I'm bothered.

i was also about to post that nonowrok (k-island) as well as teregotha(shai) were soda free, shai also lacks rubber, both lack magnesium and a number of other things, now i know where to get soda and magnesium and other things (oil) if you're on aki and there's probably maps on all shores to show it but i'm not sure if i should and so will refrain from giving the.. possibly well known info here.

oh ya, cantr island has no cotton or chromium, so vehicle/ship transmitter and beds are not makable without trans-oceanic trading

Yes, K-Island and Shai don't have this stuff.. but they're tiny. Aki is huge compared to them. Small islands are fine, they can support small populations.. For big islands, where you need to do big things at once (ie transport a lot of stone at once for roads, transport a lot of hematite to build infrastructure, transport a lot of people for crisis on the other side of the island, so many more examples) it's so much different.
But like I said, I've changed my mind. Regardless, Aki will be in a dark age for a long, long time until there is a frequent exchange of missing resources.

1. Why should all islands be the same? That would be incredibly boring. For example, I no longer hear of people going on "great, dangerous expeditions" to Burgeo....it's no longer (as) dangerous there and the mystery/adventure is lost, resources from there aren't nearly as valuable anymore because they're more easily obtained, etc etc.
2. Advanced technology does not equal success.
I'd really love to see some areas that are highly dangerous but have resources that are interesting enough to make people want to take the risk of getting them.
