Old Building Ghost

Postby Vipho » Wed Sep 03, 2008 2:54 am

Okay, I recently began work on a building that was started in 644. The required stone was only recently added.

I started work on the project, and curiously if I look at myself, it just says I'm working on the building, with no skill level. Also, if I pull the project up and then click my name, it pulls up two people, me, and above me "A woman who is very old" If I click on her to look at her, she's no longer there and I only get the chance to change her name. Ghosts, anyone?

The page that lists all of the people working on a project also lists the person who started the project, whether or not they are working on it. Does that explain things? I'm not sure I 100% understand the situation so there may be more to it.

it shouldn't list the initiator if they're not present.

At least, I'm sure that's how it used to work

I don't know why it does that, but it has happened to me on numerous occassions and I'm sure happens to everyone else working on abandoned projects. When you click the people working on current project page, it will show the "name" of the initiator, but a blank profile page will show up. I just figured it was leftover coding or something.

Huh, I guess it's the first time I've noticed, although I believe most of the farming/collecting type projects I've started like that don't list them. I only know because I've checked to see my skills, the same thing I did here. By the way, she isn't listed on the participants, only when I click my name (under the participants list as the only one) does it bring up the screen with us both. Anyway, so okay, the ghost issue is solved. Anyone know why it doesn't say my skill level?

Perhaps cuz the project is super old? At least that's the trend I have been seeing.

That may be the case. I know old repair projects started before the times were shortened, still have an enormous length, and I think farming projects still have the original daily rate attached, even if this has been changed since.

There is no skill for the project because it was started before skills were implemented.

Can't comment on the other phenomena.

Didn't you used to be able to tell who started projects, even when they weren't there? I seem to remember that being the case when I joined around day 1000......But that was a while back........Memory may be faulty.
