Would this be a CRB?

Postby El_Skwidd » Fri Aug 08, 2008 7:37 pm

I really hate to clog up the forum with another one of these questions, and I feel like I should know the answer after playing for so long. But I want to make sure on account of getting banned would really ruin my day.

ALSO, PLEASE DELETE THIS IF IT SHOULD BE SENT BY PM TO STAFF. Thanks.

I have two characters who are in the same location. Let's call them Joe and Greg. Here's the story.

Joe is in a sticky situation. He's scared of some people and wants to get as far away from them as possible. That means getting off of this island and to somewhere where they have a low probability of running into him.

Greg is in this location by accident, having gotten lost on a trading mission with some other people. He's the owner of a boat that travels all around looking for opportunities to get rich and picking up people who are bored or who need rides to places.

While the two characters are acting according to their own agendas, they both happen to be owned by me. So, this creates a dilemma: should Joe ignore this opportunity to run away (which is not in accordance with his character and is slightly illogical) to preserve the integrity of the game, or would it be kosher for Joe to hop on Greg's ship and sail away even though that's cooperation between two characters of the same player?

Ugh.

Yes, sometimes you do have to compromise RP in the interest of fairness.

When you control both chars, they have opportunities that chars of other players do not. And this holds despite even honest efforts on your part, as there are intrinsic advantages such as knowing when they will be awake, controlling how active they are or what stuff they have, as well as relationships with other chars, that you can't just RP away. So, please don't let them cooperate in this way. And thank you for asking first. :) Feel free to continue in PMs with PD members if you want.

:) Thanks for that. I'll wait for the next boat.
