I tried building a lock for a storage room and received error "=". I had selected to add the iron automatically. When i checked the activities screen, the project appeared but it showed that 0 of 200g of iron was used (as opposed to 180g as the building menu shows). To verify this, I attempted to create a lock with another of my characters, though did not select to automatically add the iron. I received the same "=" error but the project did not appear in the activities list.
I went ahead with the original lock project and am currently building it (maybe the lock will be a little stronger with the extra 20g iron ; ) I am not worried about the iron difference, but figured it might be good to know about in case its a wider issue.
Please let me know if I need to give more information.

Hmm, the 180 gram lock (vehicle lock) you are talking about is just for vehicles and cargo holds and cabins on boats. Since you said building, that is the building lock in the building menu which takes 200 grams of iron. When you said the "=" error, was there a message or was it just that? Thats my main guess, that you picked the wrong lock to build. There is always the possibility that the area already has one or already has a project up for one.
