Cantr II Discussion Forum

This has now happend for me twice. First was in the beginning of my Cantr time and I was very qurious about everything. The accound that opened instead of mine was a polish one. My is swedish. I explored the characters notes to find out something about what the polish islands looked like.

Now the same thing happend again. But this time it was a swedish account and many characters that was known to me. I closed the whindow emediatly as I didnt whant to take any advantage of it. But I could ofcourse have done much that could have helped me. Giving keys and other tings from characters of that account to my own characters etc etc.

Now my questions. Does this happen normaly from time to time? If it happens to my account, and other player do bad things with my characters, can that be undone? What about all knowlage that can be accured OOC?

I have never, ever, heard of this happening before. Do you share a computer with other users or something?

It can happen if you have the same session id... Technically it might be possible that the random number generator gives two people the same sesid and the second person to log in would see the first person's account. Also if you copy events to YIM or some other programs, it may include the links that are on character names and you can click on them to get in the game, as long as the other person hasn't logged out yet. I remember Revanael once posting some link that contained his session id and I clicked on it and could see his character list, then I pm'd him that he should edit the link quickly before someone does something stupid with his account.

So you're saying that by keeping my account logged in all day, I run the risk of allowing others to access my account from another computer? Holy S**t.

Session id's are based on the logic that they are so long that the chance of two people getting the same id is less than one in a billion. When I say there might be a technical possibility of two people getting the same one, it's really a very small chance.

Maybe I should get me a lottery ticket... Or! Maybe I should not ever cross a street, walk down stairs anymore.

Yup it happened me one time too. It was an English account but I closed it immediately.

The same here. And i saw that phenomenon in several ereas, and on several chars. The thing is that nobody else coud see what my cahr or eany one else have said. So there coudnt be other account?

There is no risk to keep your account open. There's only a risk if you keep it open AND give out Cantr links that contain your session ID to others, which you shouldn't be doing anyhow (no purpose to it).
