Hmm, all these changes. The ones with the iron, and the ones with the steel, i now noticed that you now need ******* to smelt steel, but this tool requires leather i think it is unfair as some places don't have anything to make leather, none of my chars do (Well, except for 1). I think that you are making it too HARD to make steel, i think changing the iron to hematite was enough, but this is MY opinion, i don't know wether anyone else knows.

I use something else to melt steel, and it doesn't require any leather to build.... dunno wot u were using.

Well, it might just be me. But i don't think it is, when did you start your smelty project? I think the change occured within the last 2 (Game) hours.

i feel the same way, not all the places have the things for leather, this so sucks its gonna slow down everything yet again... :x

I already found steel hard enough to make, with all the different materials and especially with the hematite... but now... it is even harder... why? I was the only 1 making steel in the dutch environments and now even I can't make it anymore...

I think they have over done it a bit. Steel was hard enough to make before any changes. But now with the other changes some places will not be able to grow, the economy will suffer, it will never be the same again.

the tool is there because there are just two differences between making steel and refining iron. One of the factors is heat, which is addressed, and the other relates to the tool.

It's not intended to make things harder, so I'll be looking into making the required materials easier to get, as I would like the tool to stay. I think in RL the materials are a lot easier to get, so we will have to have a think about getting them more common in cantr.

yer you might be right. But same would have 2 go for the wood if ya look it that way... I find it hard 2 believe that pple can cut down trees with there bare hands. Or the food, like rice and spinage, we eat all of it raw.. doens't look that healthy 2 me

but wot could you do to make leather easier 2 make? Or were you planning 2 make bellows from something else? I dunno much about making leather in Rl but I know how 2 make it IG :) bummer is the stuff can't be found in dutch areas :(

It isn't too hard to make leather in game, all you need to be is near the coast, a few simple tools, and some animals. The animals might be the problem though. I don't know how easy it is to get the stuff off them, as I haven't done that much hunting of them

hmmz we can keep complaining about things but I have to say u guys from the research department do a great job, you make it almost as real as RL. Keep up the good work I would say, but maybe you could keep us informed next time ya make some changes :) that would be nice.

We discussed that, and decided it was best to let chars discover the changes in the natural Cantr way.

Yea, there's been quite a bit of research, or time researching what exactly it is that makes steel different to iron, at a glance they are the same. Turns out the difference is temperature, and the amount of oxygen, hence the changes. The hematite was in the works anyway, not related so much to the steel changes.

There was some discussion about whether to inform, how much to say. In the end one of the programming dept members took the initive, as he had free time and got it all done, so we ended up without one.

It would have been nice though if the existing projects were unaffected.... like when the iron changed over. Suddenly I no longer have the right tools....
