Spanish area on German server?

Postby Sappho » Wed Sep 26, 2007 6:51 pm

I just started a new character on the German server; I speak pretty good German and thought this would be good practice. When I got on, the interface was all in German, but the notes were written in Spanish, and the people around me were speaking Spanish. Is this just a community of Spanish-speaking people on the German server (which is incredibly confusing), or has something gone wrong?

Thank you.

There aren't different servers for the different languages. They're all on different islands on one server. Spanish and German are on the same island.

Ah, well that would explain it. That is incredibly confusing. Are there really that few people who speak Spanish or German that they can't each have their own island? Maybe I won't get much practice after all.

Well, it's done so that languages can meet as well. I'm not sure how many German players there are. I think it more has to do with number of islands that are in Cantr vs. number of languages in Cantr (besides the fact that it's good to have some completely empty islands for people to find). Some of the islands are very large as well, so putting just one language on it would be rather fruitless. And there's always the chance of spawning completely away from your own language if two people of your language group happen to have passed through a place where there is mostly people of another language.

I see. I guess this game is more complicated than it seems. I suppose I'll try exploring then. Thank you.

Sure is interesting. My Dutch char lives on a Dutch/German/French/Spanish island, there's some English and other language people running around too from time to time... makes for interesting play, the times where one group doesn't just try to wipe out other groups on the island lol...

That never happened inside that island as far as I know, otherwise it would be a one language island already.

It was a two languages island —Spanish and German. But as the Dutch & French island wasn't as comfortable and they were few, they just merged and left that island for the most tough colonizers.

Even with so much characters and languages, it's not an amazingly thrilling place. There was one dictator once like 500 days ago in one corner, and a traitor leader like 300 days ago in the opposite corner. :?
