Long time Sailing

I have a character that has been sailing for years and is planning on sailing for six years (raker) and then heading back. Does the Cantr world have a limit? Is there an end to the water or does it just go forever?

That is the mystery question buddy.

I have heard that it is possible to circumnavigate(sail all the way around and arrive where you started) the world, but supposedly no one has ever done it...

Read around on the forums about sailing all the way around the Cantr world. There is alot of interesting info.

I know the shape of the world, but I'm not sure I can tell you. I know the size as well, but that I won't and can't tell.

Wrong ... someone did... left treefeather sailed 20 years.. in a straight line... hit the Cantr Isle (the one with Naron) unless he lied to her...but he had no reason to...

Oh wow! That is amazing. I had never heard of that happening before...

 I decided to do that with a char of mine (who still doesn't have a boat xD) to be the first to travell arround the world( who knows in 80 years?) but now you tell me someone already donne it.... bah... Now that char will do it and think he was the first but soon will discover he wasn't. :?

If I understand it right, unless you go e-w, or N-s or vice versa, you'll spiral round and round.
Sunni's char went E-W... so yours could still be the first to go N-S.

Correct. Now anyone with some mathematical or geometrical knowledge will indeed know the shape of the world. 8)

yay.... but the problem is... how is my char going to know that he needs to go N-S... By his logic he would go south all the way.

It's been said many times in the forums what the shape is... :?

Uhhh? What is meant was traveling straight north or south (direction 0 or 180), or straight east or west (direction 90 or 270).

Let me explain for the less topologically adept. 8)

Image
Start in the middle, go in direction 0, 90, 180 or 270. Total distance back to starting point 8.

Image
Start in the middle, go in direction 45, 135, 225 or 315. Total distance back to starting point: 11.3 (note, this only works if the world is square, or you'll end up going longer)

Any other direction it will take a long time to get back.

Maybe you can visualise this better looking at this:

Aw, nuts. I wanted to say "Cantr's a donut!" so badly. Now I'll just have to get smart and say "Look! It's four dimensional!" :P

As long as your character is more vocal (and obnoxious?) about their accomplishment, the other guy will remain unknown or be forgotten. Cantrians place the retention of history on a very low pedestal. Just bomb the world with their journal so everyone has a copy, and put something useful in it like maps, etc, so people are forced to look at it.

My character is generally going north by the way, and recording his directions in a journal of course, which means he should be able to get back to my island if he follows it backwards...

Yes, there's a ton of info about the Cantr world unknown right now. The main goal of my character is to make a map of the ocean showing the different islands.
