Yet another question about docking

I've been looking through the wiki and previous asked questions here about docking, but couldn't find the answer I was seeking.

I am about to dock to another boat, but as soon as I press the "dock"-button, will the people on board the ship know this? Will they receive a message telling them that my boat is docking to theirs?

And so I understand that if I have the smaller boat, there's no way the bigger boat is going to get away. If I want to dock to it, there's nothing th epeople on board the other ship can do about it?

They will know you're docking. There's a message that states a boat has started to dock (within 3 turns of docking). The following two turns they will see a message that says that a boat is continuing to dock. So every hour before you dock they'll get a message... unless you're more than 3 hours from docking. Of course, as soon as you hit 3 hrs til you dock, the messages will start, even if you started at 4 hrs til.

If their ship is faster, they can get away. You pretty much have to be on top of them to be able to dock to them if you're both moving (and will have to dock instantly). If you're both moving and you don't dock instantly, then your docking will be broken at the next movement, I believe.

People on the deck of the target vessel will be notified that you are docking.

Larger ships however can out run a docking smaller ship - If the target is moving then the docking vessel has to be close to succeed, within one cantr hours dtravel distance for the docking ship .
