i was wondering, is it possible to travel between different islands?

i know it is possible to travel from french/dutch-island to spanish/german-island (one of my characters did it), but is it also possible to reach other islands? The english or even swedish for example...

Yes!

Yeah, all islands are on the same big map so it's technically possible to get from any place to another. Some places just happen to be farther away than others. There has been at least English-Swedish contact, Swedish-Turkish contact, Swedish-Esperanto contact, English-Polish contact, English-Russian contact, Russian-French contact, Russian-Polish contact, German-Spanish contact, Portuguese-Lithuanian contact........ Everything is possible.

Possibly with the exeption of newbie islands. Since those are protected. But I don't know if they have been implemented yet.
