Need help: how do I avoid CRB?

One of my chars is a member of a group of pirates, they have robbed two towns, killing noncooperative characters, and stealing everything from the cooperative ones. 8) The normal thing to do for this group is to attack the next town, an obvious target. But the townleader there is also a char of mine.
Now what would be the CRB:
 to attack that town, possibly killing or kidnapping my own char?
 Or to skip that town, to avoid that situation? But how do I explain that IC? My character has no reason to avoid that town! Somehow that does not seem right as well.
Please enlighten me.

Ouch, that's a tricky situation. One choice would be keeping both characters asleep and leaving it up to the other members of the crew wether to attack, and other members of the town wether to defend themselves.

If your tactic is the usual one of striking fast, grabbing what ever is available, hitting people who might be easy targets or might be carrying something important, you might wanna look at the character descriptions of people in town - does your leader character stand out from the mass, either by age or clothing or equipment? Unless you're also in charge of the pirate crew, leave it up to the others to decide who is to be attacked and/or kidnapped, thus saving you from a biased decision.

Anyway, I think you should attack in any case.

I generally agree with Seko.

The advisable course of action is to notify the PD in advance so they can monitor the situation (which you have essentially done here). If you are a good role-player and have the ability to shield your characters from bias, you should be able to play both of your characters during such an encounter, but I would avoid having them awake at similar times.

Things to avoid:

1 - avoid the temptation to give your town leader precognitive powers, even if it's something as seemingly little as "Hmm, I think I'm going to go inside this locked building to take a nap."

2 - avoid the temptation to use your town leader's knowledge to your pirate's advantage. Let the others in your crew lead the way.

If things get hairy and you think you can't handle it, fall asleep. If it were me, I'd favor my town leader over my pirate, since the pirate has others to rely on, while the townsfolk would be relying on me for their protection. Just my personal choice.

It wouldn't be against the CR to tell your fellow pirates that you might be sleepy during the raid. This gives them a heads-up so they won't be cursing you when you fall asleep at exactly the wrong time (for them).

Oh, and being an ex-PD member and also an ex-player, if you wanted some more in-depth advice specificly regarding your situation as it's unfolding, feel free to PM me. Since I have no characters, I have nothing at stake in the outcome of this.
