Missing Wood/Magnesium

Postby Wolf » Tue Oct 10, 2006 7:45 pm

I've just gone through the e-mailed event logs from the last couple of days (1667-1 to 1677-7), but I'm still puzzled about something.
Before the 3-day reset, one of my characters who's in charge of a small town traded away almost all of the town's woodsupply in exchange for 2000 grams of magnesium.
The magnesium was to provide the town with motorized vehicles.
The first motorized vehicle would be used to arrange for more metal-making resources so the other vehicles could be made.
Before the reset, after the trade, my char started to build the first vehicle, a dirt motorcycle, because he finally had the much-needed magnesium.

Then, the 3-day reset went into effect...
One or two of that character's notes still have in them that he made the trade, but now the wood that was traded is gone, the trader has vanished, and so has the magnesium.
The event-logs that I get in my e-mail show the wood exchanging hands, but don't show any magnesium exchanging hands.
Some other rp'ed events (where no resources, tools or projects were involved) that occurred around the time the exchange took place also vanished from the event logs... but those are far less important, as they didn't really have a major impact on the character or the town.
The thing that puzzles me, is that since my char was working inside a building after the 3-day reset, I can't figure out if the missing magnesium was somehow part of the database corruption which lead to the 3-day reset, or if it's just a case of the trader hauling butt without handing over the magnesium again.

It took a lot of work for this character to get to the point where he could make motorized vehicles, and the vehicles were a major part of a bigger plan that he had for the town, which means as a player I put a lot of work into that character and the events around him... so I'm wondering if it's any use to ask if it can be found out if it was part of the corruption, or if it was just a case of the trader (knowingly or not) taking off with both the wood and the magnesium.
I can imagine that the 3-day reset involved a lot of data getting lost, but as we say here in the Netherlands, "nooit geschoten, altijd mis" ("if you never shoot, you'll always miss").

Edit: Split from general discussion -Doug
