Characer Moved by Bug?

(I'm not sure whether I can give any name or place details here, so I don't)

I have a character that I think has been bugged. He has been travelling for quite a while, but he left from a certain location and has been travelling through many other locations, most of them deserted, and now I have come to a location, also deserted, but with buildings that are written on a map(that's how I could find out where he was). I don't really remember where he has been and not, but I have tried to retrace his route and I think he can never ever have gotten there by the normal roads and paths.

Is this possible and what do I do with it? (I don't really mind this, the island is not that big and the character was just travelling in search of populated places to trade some of the stuff he found, so I believe there is no 'drastic' effect on the character by his replacement(ie it could have been if he was bound for a certain specific location))

So what are you saying, that you can't retrace your steps? You can PM me details and I can check your characters travel logs. My guess, though, is that you're simply lost.
