Dropping dung whilst travelling!

I don't seem to be able to drop items when travelling, is this normal? Do I have to carry all animal products with me and will it slow me down?

You cannot drop things while travelling, nor can you pass them to other people (unless you happen to be in a vehicle). Note however that a person carrying 15,000g only moves 30% slower then a person carrying 0g.
