Now that we've had the deterioration and repair for a while now, people have settled into somewhat of a routine fixing things. A person with a lot of stuff spends a lot of time doing nothing but repairs. A medium to large town not only has to hire/appoint someone to do repairs, they have to hire a team. It's too much for one, even two people, round the clock. By the time they get everything fixed, the first batch is very used again.

Something has to give. It's just too labour intensive to sustain forever. I agree with Kinvoya. Lessen the time needed, and make it simple.

No... that's not really true. The items don't wear down very much by time anymore, it's a lot more affected by use, so by the time you have repaired everything, they are still basically in top condition.

I stand by the system I proposed earlier in this thread.

Unfortunately, the RD ignore my ideas. Almost as a matter of course it seems...

In my experience, this is just not the case. I thought Jur or someone said that items were not affected by use.

Whether the rest is true... that statement is not. Items still rot at an annoyingly fast rate considering how long they take to repair... :x

Exactly.

Nobody has yet been able to explain to me why an often used bone knife takes over two days to fix, and a used steel sabre takes the same amount, when I don't believe either took close to that long to MAKE.

If you keep an item for any length of time, you'll soon find you're spending more time repairing it (and thus not able to do other things) than you are using it, and far more time than you spent making it.

Why are you bothering with trying to fix a merely used sabre in the first place? Let me repeat. So far my characters have had to repair a few bows. Oh and one other repaired a dungfork for fun. That's all.

In a little while they'll probably need to fix a few tools with wooden handles. Bone tools will be left to crumble and then I'll probably make new ones, but that won't be for many years yet. I simply don't understand this hysteria about repairing anything that doesn't say "brand new". Is there something I'm missing?

Maybe because he doesn't want to have to spend four plus days without a sabre when he waits till it's crumbling? And in the meantime all his other tools are also crumbling and need four days work on each one.
