Why can't we have it both ways? Fishing while moving and fishing while floating?

We are working on making fishing nets more atractive to all players and they will give all good surprises once I end with testing and some number outputs. :)

I think you haven't right.

Ronja Rotschopf wrote:maybe small ships (if they are already there) will be more attactive now for some characters, but obviously this change gives other characters disadvantages.

Almost any not-interface changes (I not speak about new things, but about changes) give some characters disadvantages, if we will look at this, we shouldn't change anything.

alf's comment gives me some hope that the problem will get fixed

so just to point it out again why this change bothers me so much (until it gets fixed): a character spends years on building a machine for a certain purpose, a few weeks later the function of the machine gets changed so that it doesn't fulfill this purpose anymore. There was no suggestion, no discussion, no announcement regarding this change. And the only possible reason (balancing out the output of several similar projects) could have been fulfilled in a similar way without making the machine useless for it's origin purpose.

I don't know if Doug built his slow boat for fishing before or after the change - but it doesn't matter much. More output on fishing when sailing wouldn't be a problem even for those who don't want to sail to a certain location - just a few hours in one direaction and a few hours back and you have what you wanted and can go back on land. (or for reapeating Rebma's question: why can't we have both ways?)

This wasn't anything urgent and if you (the persons who decided it) were so convinced that it would be good for the game and get supported by the majority of the players that are active on the forum, you could have done it with a suggestion that gets accepted after a certain time and then implemented. There are enough accepted suggestions waiting for implementation (and certainly enough other tasks for programming) that it's not necessary to change anything in such a dictatorial manner.

This I agree with. I understand the fishing from a small boat, but if my small one is docked to a larger one, I want to be able to fish without undocking and leaving my larger ship vulnerable.

Hold on, what was the change? I have a charrie who is making a net to go fishing on his dinghy, is that not possible anymore?

The change was fishing while moving verses standing still ( I think)

Lol? This was possible? And it wasn't bug? Fishing from nets by using docked ship?

The part of surprises means we won't give away what is going to happen with nets and good means.... well, good (I won't give away more). :P

EDIT: BTW, you want to learn more details? Please joing RD and give us a hand.

Personally, I'm confused, because I always fished from a stationary boat using my net. This was months and months ago, well before this change was said to have been put into effect. I just undocked and sat offshore and fished.

Fish nets were approved and implemented as they are working now: only floating. In RD there's no documentation as when or why they were changed to be able to work indistinct, while sailing or while floating.

This is something we found out recently and was corrected by me not so long ago.

I hope this clears all your doubts. :)

So, like I suspected, this was just bug.
