Somewhere before tonight, it seems the object menu, and more specifically the pointing button changed.
As it was, you clicked the "point at object" button, and it would reload and bring you back to the events page, where it would show the pointing.
Somehow, now it does not reload or redirect the page after clicking the button, it just stays on the Objects page, (like using the Ajax (?) menu things in dragging or picking up). Is this a deliberate change, or a bug? I find it quite annoying, personally.
It does the not-redirect thing in both browsers I tried (Firefox and Safari). From a reliable source I heard it does the same on Chrome, and that it does reload on mobile, but redirects to Objects, not to Events.
Just to be sure, it could be that I'm just being crazy and it always was this way.... (yay for self-doubt).
EDIT: Small edition, almost forgot to try, it does the same in the inventory menu.

Re: Page reload after pointing
No re-load at all on Chrome mobile browser here either. Wasn't even sure my tablet identified me trying to point in my inventory. Checked events to be sure before clicking again, sure enough I'd pointed. I can definitely verify it used to redirect me to events.
I do a lot of pointing.
Edit:probably related- wearing items no longer redirects to the character description page.

Is it a bug? I was guessing it was intentional to make copying notes easier, and it's definitely welcome for that.

Re: Page reload after pointing
I hope it isn't intentional. I mean it doesn't mater so much for the clothing, but it's really inconvenient to not be able to tell if you've successfully pointed unless you manually check events.

Oh my. haha. And here I've been pointing multiple times, thinking my internet was being slow or I just hadn't clicked 'point'.... clumsy fingers!

It's an intentional change.
There was a problem with converting the button to greyscale on webkit-based browsers. I know it could have been the source of confusion, because it looked like nothing happened, I hope it didn't spoil the gameplay.
It should work now.

oh my.. it is a bit confusing, the pointing only redirects if i point at people . also not only does pointing on other things not redirect.. but also sometimes i copy 20 notes because it doesn't reload anymore... just glad they've been editable ones so far.

TopTip

You can delete all but one copy of uneditable notes by putting them together in an envelope and using "remove note duplicates" at the bottom of the list of notes.
That said, the Ajax menu only works on the Objects and Inventory page, so indeed, it does still redirect on the other pages.

Re: Page reload after pointing
Is this an optional change? I like the javascript in the inventory for dropping/taking, but this is actually more often inconvenient than it's convenient in my experience. Almost every time I point at something, I want to go to the event screen to explain why I pointed at it, so all it does is add unnecessary scrolling up + extra click on event page.
When copying notes I don't get why it doesn't use the same system as taking/dropping items where it just updates the inventory without a full refresh. Right now you have to copy and then manually refresh to see the copy.

Re: Page reload after pointing
It would be nice if it was optional. Like Ive said before I point A LOT in game and never just point and not explain. It sucks so bad on non-computer devices too, adding a step.
