Skill improvement not listed?

I had a character recently improve to a novice fighter, but looking at the description page, a few days later now, it is still listed as an awkward skill.

I seem to remember if you attack yourself, it shows up as novice instead of awkward because there's a lower cap. Could this be the case?

I thought that was to make suicide possible but whatever it's there for I'm pretty sure it's there.

That would be the case. I had no idea, not used to a self harder.
