The Line Between Radio Idiots and Hate Speech
I know everyone hates radio impersonation, crudeness, insults, etc., but at some point is using certain slurs against specific groups inappropriate to use in game? It seems like common sense to avoid such words, but is there a rule against it? I heard something that was personally offensive to me, but I'm not sure if I should just get over it or report it.

Of course we wil look into it when reported. This is a family-friendly game. Any strong language can only be used in private, with other adult players. Never on the radio.
Auryn if this is ofending any player, the offender will get a message from us. We need the report sent directly to players@cantr.net or with the contact form link, top left of players page to Players Department.

The radio messages have been pretty vulgar lately. I'm not personally offended but many of the things said are far, far from family friendly. That's the problem with anonymity over the radio. I'm sure it would have been dealt with in-game if the immature one(s) could be traced. Or the offending party would be less likely to broadcast if they knew they could be caught at it.

For the past couple months, absolutely this is true.

Thanks, Pilot!
It's kind of sad because I don't often have any chars near a radio and I've still picked up plenty of those messages. Can't imagine what it's been like for people who have to sit near a radio all the time.

Sad indeed. I don't play english characters to experience it as a player, but it does upset me to read as admin what minors and players in general are exposed to. Reporting to Players Department is the way you can protect everyone from this type of abuse.

*nod*nod* You dare to say everything you like, when you know, you don't get caught.
Myself, i think, Radio idiots is part of the life. But, not anymore when it gets too vulgar.
What is too vulgar? Use common sense.
Everyone who is sitting near a receiver will hear the message (Assuming the receiver is in the range of the repeaters/transmitter)

There's someone who really likes calling a certain elderly character a very nasty and in some contexts deeply sexist word on the radio, and that person can be heard on three different islands.

I do think that for a while, the radio stuff is offensive. In my opinion, it gives new players the idea that radio can be used as free playground to say whatever they want. I am actually missing all the drama on the radio before this profanity and name calling and all that stuff.

quite sure I heard exactly what your talking about, happened on more than 1 day and was by far the worst of what has come over the radio the past month, no wonder so much other vulgar garbage became commonplace the past couple weeks.

Actually, -2- characters have been subjected to that - Initiated by one player against one of them, swiftly taken up and repeated by another and then involving the second char.
And really, some people have a nerve.
Good to know that this will not be tolerated, and the offending players don't have the protection their chars have under the anonymity of the radio.

Re: The Line Between Radio Idiots and Hate Speech
+1 for reporting these types of radio messages. I get some friendly IC banter, but there have been certain names called and certain imagery lately sent on the radio that crosses the line of human decency and I'm glad to read that the Player Department plans to address this concern.
