Radio Transmitting Error

Postby Fingersmith » Thu Feb 09, 2012 3:13 am

There seems to be a problem with the radio transmitter inside the Dorian Hall building in Dorian in Treefeather island.
There is inside the building both a long range transmitter and a radio receiver set in frequency 100.
If you are in the building you can hear everything thats being transmitted in that frequency. Even from far far away places due to the repeater network I guess.
But when one of my chars used the transmitter to transmit a message in the same frequency (100) no one seemed to hear him. And I had a couple of other chars inside rooms in other treefeather towns for personal check out and they didnt hear a thing.
How can that happen? I mean if the repeaters are good enough to get other radio messages to Dorian why dont they work for the transmitter as well? :?:

I had a town like that and it's to do with distance (in pixels). You need to build a better transmitter. In short, your transmission isn't reaching a repeater, as it relies on the strength of the transmitter not the repeater, but the repeater is reaching your receiver. I can't tell you the exact specs, but I can quote the wiki. http://wiki.cantr.net/index.php/Category:Electronics

Transmitters
medium radio transmitter reaches 60 pixels.
long range radio transmitter reaches 90 pixels.
enhanced range radio transmitter and vehicle radio transmitter reaches 115 pixels.
extended range radio transmitter and ship radio transmitter reaches 150 pixels.

Receivers
Everyone in the same location as a receiver in range and set to listen to the transmitter's chosen frequency hears the message. The speaker and transmitter are not identified; the message is along the lines of "you hear a radio message 'Mary had a little Lamb.'"

Repeaters
Re-broadcasts everything it receives on the frequency it's set on. Useful if communication is desired between remote locations that falls outside the range of a single radio.

Example: image:Repeater.png
Red and blue can't communicate directly, but with a repeater (white) it's possible.

medium range repeater reaches 60 pixels.
long range repeater reaches 90 pixels.
enhanced range repeater reaches 115 pixels.
extended range repeater reaches 150 pixels.

Thanks . It makes sense. So a larger radio transmitter then. *sighs* Oh my.... more resource runs for my char.

Or your transmitter is broken.

I've run the radio fixer script twice in the last 24 hours, and it fixed a ton of radios. Check it again to be sure that what Addicted said is really the problem.

The radio receiver in Shambon North`s Coaster Harbour is not working. A car radio in Shambon North receives a test *click*. The radio in the harbour does not. Both are set to the same frequency.

Hi there. I'm having some issues in West Kol with a radio transmitter, or rather the receivers. They aren't picking up anything or getting any responds I think it may be a bug. :) thanks.

I have just built a radio transmitter and a repeater on Teregotha Island. Messages sent on the transmitter are not heard. I don't know whether the problem is in the transmitter or in the repeater.
